Vaikom Muhammad Basheer
Vaikom Muhammad BasheerĀ (Malayalam:ą“µąµą“ąµą“ą“ ą“®ąµą“¹ą“®ąµą“®ą“¦ąµā ą“¬ą“·ąµąµ¼) (19 January 1908 ā 5 July 1994) was aĀ MalayalamĀ fiction writer from the state ofĀ KeralaĀ in India. He was aĀ humanist,Ā freedom fighter, novelist and short story writer. He is noted for his path-breaking, disarmingly down-to-earth style of writing that made him equally popular among literary critics as well as the common man. He is regarded as one of the most successful and outstanding writers from India.[3][betterĀ sourceĀ needed]Ā Translations of his works into other languages have won him worldwide acclaim.[3]Ā His notable works includeĀ Balyakalasakhi,Ā Shabdangal,Ā Pathummayude Aadu,Ā Mathilukal,Ntuppuppakkoranendarnnu,Ā JanmadinamĀ andĀ Anargha Nimisham. He was awarded theĀ Padma ShriĀ in 1982. He is fondly remembered as theĀ Beypore Sultan.
