Brenden Rider

Brenden Charles Rider (born September 24th, 2003) is an American film director, cinematographer and screenwriter. Born in Minneapolis, Rider developed a passion for cinema at a young age, originally planning to go into animation before pivoting towards traditional filmmaking. He is best known for writing and directing Shutter (2025), his student thesis short film made during his time at Minneapolis College. Rider’s films are often characterized by their depiction of flawed and troubled characters, often exploring themes of alienation, isolation and the complexities of human connection. Notably, his visual style has an emphasis on meticulously framed compositions and long takes.
