Gro Harlem Brundtland

Gro Harlem Brundtland is a Norwegian physician and politician who served three terms as Prime Minister of Norway, becoming the country’s first female prime minister. A member of the Labour Party, she played a central role in modernizing Norway’s welfare state and advancing gender equality. Internationally, she is best known for chairing the World Commission on Environment and Development, whose 1987 «Brundtland Report» introduced the concept of sustainable development. Brundtland later served as Director-General of the World Health Organization from 1998 to 2003.
