The philosopher and mathematician Poincaré, for example, said that mathematics is the art of giving the same name to different things. Mathematics is the science of patterns. It happens whenever there is a pattern. Whenever something repeats itself... in your daily life, on the streets, in traffic... These are ideas that materialize in all the objects you have ever observed... and perhaps never noticed. Mathematics is life. Your life... and mine. I'm Rogério Martins... and I'm a mathematician.
